Hanuman Jayanti is an Indian religious festival, which is celebrated as the birth anniversary of Lord Hanuman. As per Indian belief, Lord Hanuman is known to be the most powerful in all the three Loka (Svarga, Prithvi and Patala). He is considered as the ultimate source of divine energy. He is also worshipped as the symbol of energy and strength. He has played a very significant role in Ramayana. He is regarded as one of the most important characters of Ramayana; he was a Vaanara (human-like monkey face). Hanuman is known as the most devoted and dedicated worshiper of Lord Rama.
Hanuman is known with many names like 'Maruti', 'Pawansuta, Bajrangbali', and 'Mangalmurti'. The name 'Hanuman' is used more often.
In Ramayana, there are a lot of mentions about Lord Hanuman and a lot of major events that finally led to the winning of Rama over Lanka king Ravana. And it is often said that it would have been impossible for Lord Rama to win the epic battle against the Ravana (king of Lanka kingdom).
Lord Hanuman is also known as the reincarnation of Lord Shiva. His blessings are meant to keep all the negative and evil energies away from his followers.
Hanuman Jayanti in most of India is celebrated on Purnima (full moon), which is usually around March or April. As per some Indian Panchang, Lord Hanuman was born in the Ashvin month on the 14th day (Chaturdashi) this month.
In different states of southern India, Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated on different days. In Tamil Nadu and Kerala, this is observed on the Janam Marangi Amavasya(on the day of Amavasya), which falls in December or January. In Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, it is celebrated on the 10th day of KrishanPaksha of Vaishakhi Month. In Karnataka, celebrated on ShuklaPakshaTrodashi, and in Odisha on the first day of Baisakhi (in April month).

Hanuman is considered to be the 11th reincarnation of Lord Shiva, and he is considered the symbol of Power, Knowledge, Courage, Intelligence, and Selfless service. He is worshipped very religiously. As per Epic RamcharitraManas, He is believed to be a Brahmcharya throughout his life, and as a result of his selfless devotedness, he was blessed to live eternally until the end of this universe. And has the power to destroy all the negative energy as well as the ominous impacts. Hanuman has devoted his entire life for Ram and his wife Sita. He has always used his powers to defeat evil energies and never to show his strength even tho he was the reincarnation of Lord Shiva (Lord of destruction himself). People worship Hanuman to gain these qualities in their life.
Hanuman is worshipped as a God who can keep away negative and evil acts away along with giving an unseen shield to his devotees. On the day of Hanuman Jayanti, all the devotees wake up early and visit Hanuman Temples and do puja and get Prashad as a blessing. As Hanuman was born before the sunrise, all the religious ceremonies and prayers are conducted early in the morning. An idol of hanuman is decorated with red Sindur and later worshipped by singing prayers, Aarti (a Hindu religious ritual of worship, a part of puja,) and some special Mantra's (ex. Hanuman Chalisa). On this day people also recite prayers from Ramayana. After the ceremony all the devotees are offered, Prashad (a material substance that is first offered to a Hindu deity and then consumed.) The Prashad usually has sweets, flowers, coconut, sindoor, and holy water Panchamrit (meaning “five,” and "Amrit", meaning “immortal” or “nectar of the gods.” Traditional recipes for panchamrit consist of five ingredients: fresh milk, curd (Yogurt), honey, sugar, and ghee (clarified butter).
