According to the Hindu calendar, Yogini Ekadashi 2019 is celebrated in the month of Ashadha that is during the Krishna Paksha, that is the waning phase of the moon. As per the English calendar, it takes place in the month of June or July. This fasting can be taken by anyone, young or old, for individuals who want to avoid any kind of disease or health problems. The fasting is especially important to be taken by people who are suffering from any skin related disease like leprosy.
Yogini Ekadashi has a strong significance on one’s life if fasting and puja are done strictly. The fasting like other Ekadashi fasts starts from sunrise and continues till the next day's sunrise. The person observing the vrat should not take any kind of cereal or grain like wheat, barley, or rice. It is also necessary that follower should remain clean throughout the day and recite Lord Vishnu chants. As per the fasting rituals, the devotee should stay awake during the night and pray for good health to Lord Vishnu.
Yogini Ekadashi is on 29th June 2019. Parana falls on 30th June at 5:26 am and it will end at 8:13 am as per Hindu Calendar. The duration of Parana is 2 hours and 47 minutes.
The puja and Vrat of Yogini Ekadashi will take place from the tenth day of the Hindu calendar till the twelfth day of the Hindu calendar. The followers must think positive and pray for blessings to Lord Vishnu while offering flowers and sweets to the picture or idol of the Lord. Other items like incense stick, lamps, water container and the bell should be kept in a plate to offer to God. Tulsi leaves should be brought on the previous day, so that one does not have to pluck it on the day of Ekadashi which is prohibited. All the devotees offer Tulsi leaves to Lord Vishnu. Other family members should also participate in the puja even if they are not fasting and recite the bhajans and aarti loudly for the family's health and prosperity.
After the puja is completed the Prasad must be disturbed to everyone and it must consist of either sweets or fruits. The followers of the fast have to remember to eat one or maximum two meals without grains and salt. Drinking water frequently should also be avoided.
On the next day, during sunrise, the followers must offer prayer to the Lord, and light lamp, along with distributing prasad (sweets), after which he/she completes his/her fast.
