This year, the auspicious Karwa Chauth falls on 24th October 2021. It will be auspicious from 5:46 pm to 6:50 pm, on the evening of 4th November, Thursday. It means you must perform your puja within this time which is about 1 hour. The worship of this day will be complete only after the sighting of 2 moons, one is your husband, and the other is the moon in the sky. The time for the moon to appear in the sky on the day of Karwa Chauth is between 8:00 pm to 8:40 pm.
Karwa Chauth fasting is performed by married women to seek a long life for their husbands. On this day, she breaks her fast only after sighting the whole moon. On Karva Chauth no food or water is consumed all day. After the moonrise, the women see the full moon through a sieve in which a ghee lamp is lit. And after seeing the moon through the sieve, drink waters from the hands of her husband. Only then is their fast considered complete.
