Due to her birth in the Himalayas, she is known as 'Shailputri'. On the first day, worshippers pray to please mother Shailputri.
Shailputri Mata has a trident (Trishul) in one hand and lotus flower in the other hand. In her previous life, she was known as Sati, and later also became famous as Parvati and Hamevati. Hamevati was the pride of the Gods. There is no obstruction in the path of those who worship Shailputri mata, she will remove any obstacles, if there are any. Please include flowers and fruits in the worship of the mother. After the fasting, give her the offerings of ‘prasad’ which should not include onion and has to be made in clean and pure form.

“Om an hryin khlin chamundaya wichay Om shailputri devyai namah” With the mantra, offer rose flower and the desire fulfilling ‘gutika’ on the picture of Mata Shailputri. Then repeat this chant 108 times. After this, accept the offerings or put bhog to the Prasad and consume the Prasad.
“Om Shan Shailputri Deyai Namah”: Mantra is also chanted to please the mother. By chanting it, the mind will become peaceful and all the sorrows in your life will be removed.

“Pratham Durga Tumhi Bhavsagar Tarneem.
Dhan Aishwarya Dayini Shailaputri Pranmabhyam

Mukti Bhukti Dayani Shailputri Pramabhyaham”
