As a devotee, you establish the Kalash on the first day of Gupt Navratri. It is customary to have a bath and wear clean clothes before involving in Puja-Vrat. You arrange all the worshiping materials and call for a Pandit for the worshiping of the goddess Durga. Many people observe a fast which starts from the first puja. That is called Shealputri. It continues till the ninth day of puja which is called Sidhidatri. Devotes just have mild fast in the middle of that and may eat milk or fruits. The chanting of Durga Chalisa in the morning and evening time fulfills your every wish or desire. The statue of the goddess Durga has been installed everywhere and all the surroundings become full of devotion.
