The auspicious time when Amalaki Ekadashi begins at 12:30 AM on 20th March 2024 and ends at 02:20 aM on 21th March 2024. You all devotees should be in religious contemplation during this period.

Story Behind the Celebration of Amalaki Ekadashi 2024

Here we are coming through a religious story of every Ekadashi celebration. You must be conversant of this fact, there are twenty-four Ekadashi that have been celebrated according to the ancient Purana. You all devotees of Lord Vishnu will hear an absorbing story behind the celebration of Amalaki Ekadashi 2024. In ancient times, there was a great ruler. His name was Chitrasen. He would worship the Lord Vishnu with great devotion. He never left any Hari-Katha and used to observe fast on Every Ekadashi with great religious contemplation. You may call him a steadfast devote of the Lord Vishnu and God himself was very pleased to see his unceasing adulation.

Once he was roaming through the thick forest with his courtiers and bodyguards. He was oblivious of the fact that he was invading the premises of tribes who used to believe in human sacrifice and cannibalism. Once king Chitrasen entered their premises with his people, they were furiously attacked by tribal men in the forest. The king and his army did not get any chance of evading a capture of this surprise attack. They all were wounded and imprisoned without wasting any time. The king and his courtier are only alive at their mercy. The king was petrified and dumbfounded by the tribal men's confabulation. Because they were planning to give the sacrifice of king Chitrasen in front of their deities. They had their strange notion about the sacrifice of a living human. It was supposed to please the deities of tribal men.

Tribal men were all prepared to give the sacrifice of the king. Having seen the dreaded moment, the king became petrified. He became faint after hearing the gossip of sacrifice. Suddenly, a miracle took place. A blaze of light emerged from the body of unconscious king Chitrasen. All tribal men were soon killed by the blaze of light. All the onlookers were a bit perplexed and afraid. They were unknown about the happening of the situation. King Chitrasen became conscious after sometimes and a divine power appeared in front of him. He told the king his life was saved because of his stored religious faith and worship of the Lord Vishnu. The king would do Amalaki Ekadashi with great devotion observing fast so the lord Vishnu protected King’s life.

Vrat Puja or Fasting Vidhi of Amalaki Ekadashi 2024

Needless to tell that you must be clean and pure before indulging in worship or Puja. So you should take bath and were clean clothes after getting up early in the morning of AmalakiEkadashi. It is considered the lord Vishnu dwells on the Amalaki tree. So, after worshiping the lord Vishnu you should also worship the Amalaki tree with sandalwood, incensed stick, Akshat, Ganga-Jal, Roli, and flowers.

People usually observe the fast to achieve ultimate salvation (Moksh). You do the final commitment to having Akshat and Sesame seeds in your hand for the liberation of your soil after your demise.

Devotees do all the fasting rituals and worship with great devotion maintaining a puritanical approach for rituals. You worship the Lord Vishnu by installing an idol on a wooden plank and do the worship according to the Vedas and Puranas. You are advised to listen or recite AmalakiVrat-Katha on the pious occasion of Amalaki Ekadashi. 

You are not supposed to have rice or any eating material which is made of grain. But, eating Amala on that special day seems to be auspicious. If you find your fast is unbearable you may take fruits and milk.
