Importance and significance of Jyeshtha Purnima 2024

The legends associated with Jyeshtha Purnima suggests that this Purnima i.e. Jyestha Purnima is associated with the heroic women Savitri. She was the perfect example of a pure and divine marital life. As per the legends, she had demanded Lord Yama to release the life of his husband (Satyavan) who had already died. She kept on pleading for three days, Lord Yama was really happy from his prayers and finally released the life of his partner. Since then the tradition of worshipping Brahma, Savitri and Yama, Narada and Satyavan started.

Apart from the above legend, Jyestha month is a very auspicious month, as during this month as per older scripture's river Ganga finally appeared on earth due to the unwavering efforts of the king Bhagirathi, who was believed to pray for thousands of years.  In Hindu Vedic culture Jyestha Purnima holds a significant position when compared with other twelve Purnima's falling in a calendar year.

The first ritual for Jyestha Purnima puja starts with an early morning bath before sunrise in the holy Ganges or any other nearby river or pond and do the prayers. After this worship the Banyan tree and begin the fast.

The reason being the banyan tree is a symbolic tree of the Trimūrti (the Triple deity) regarded with supreme divinity in Hinduism and Vedic culture in which the cosmic functions of origin, subsistence, and destruction are impersonated as a triad of deities, typically The Lord Brahma the creator, The Lord Vishnu the preserver, and The Lord Shiva the destroyer.

1. On the day of Jyestha Purnima Lord Vishnu resides in the holy banyan tree along with goddess Laxmi, and that's why the banyan tree should be worshipped. Water should be offered to the banyan tree along with the raw milk, one should offer Betasha, performing this puja method brings great success in business.

2. Offering raw milk to Lord Shiva brings happiness and prosperity. Along with Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvati, Lord Ganesha and Karthikeya would also be worshipped. This brings peace in the family and harmony among the family members.

3. Any human being who wants to get their unfulfilled work done, then he/she should keep a fast on this day. Doing so and donating the needs people will help kick start your stalled work.

4. On Jyestha Purnima one should offer 11 Kodi seeds and then apply turmeric tilak on the Kodi seeds. On the next morning tie, them in a red cloth and place them in your safe box. If you follow this method, then your money will progress in the fourth fold.

5. On the Purnima day, you should drop one teaspoon of milk in a nearby well. By following this method, karma shines and there will be no hindrances in doing any requisite work.
