Ganesh Chaturthi is one of the main festivals celebrated in Hindu religion.  According to the Puranas, on this date, Shankarji’s son Ganesh Ji was born. The Chaturthi of the Krishna Paksha of the month of Bhado is said to be the date of the birth of Shri Ganesha. According to the Puranas, Kartik had told Vishwamitra ji about this fast, which he completed and then he had asked the blessing of the Lord Ganesha to become a Brahmin sage.

During Ganesh Chaturthi festival, the idol of Shri Ganesh Ji is worshipped for nine days. After nine days of worship, the idol is immersed after performing puja. This festival is celebrated in every state of India, but in Maharashtra, it is celebrated on a grand scale.

In the Puranas, it is believed that if starting from Bhadrapad Krishna Chaturthi, every month, on the day Chandrayavyapnin, of Krishnapaksha, if Lord Ganesh worship is performed, he will be pleased and destroy all the obstacles and troubles of man, and the person doing this puja gets freedom from any crisis or problems he is facing. Therefore Ganesha Ji is also called “ SankatMochak”.

For performing the worship, the idol of Ganesha is established in the house. If you don’t have the idol, then establish a whole Puja Supari in the house.  First place a red cloth and, then place Akshit and then establish Ganesha on it. After this Ganesh Ji can take a bath.  Then Ganesh Ji should wear yellow clothes. After this, apply roli tika to the forehead. Then offer him sweets and flowers too.

It is compulsory to offer “Panchameva” as Prasad every day. After establishment, it is compulsory to make a resolution or Sankalp, for this you should resolve or make the Sankalp with Ganga Jal and Akshat in the right hand. When making the resolution, you must mention the number of days you will have Ganapati Ji in the house.

For good luck in the home, offer five druvas to Ganesha. Also, you must dedicate five kamalagattas and cardamom at the feet of Lord Ganesha. On the last day of worship, tie up the kamchlatttas in red cloth and keep in the temple of the house and have the cardamom as a prasad.

For the immersion of Ganesh Ji on the last day of worship, perform aarti near the river, pond or puddle where you will immerse the idol. After this, pray for his farewell and seek the blessings of peace and prosperity. Ask for forgiveness for mistakes that happened unknowingly in these ten days.
