Rituals of Indira Ekadashi 2029

The traditional story of Indira Ekadashi is associated with King Indrasena of Mahishmati.
According to the traditional account, King Indrasena was a righteous ruler and a devotee of Lord Vishnu. One day, the sage Narada visited him and informed him that his father was suffering in the realm of Yama because of past karma.
The king was deeply concerned and asked Narada how he could help his father.
Narada advised King Indrasena to observe the Indira Ekadashi vrat and worship Lord Vishnu with devotion. He was also advised to perform the prescribed ancestral offerings and charity and dedicate the merit of the vrat to his father.
The king followed the instructions and observed the Ekadashi vrat with sincerity. According to the traditional story, the merit of his observance helped his father attain relief from his suffering.
